PICK OF THE BUNCH
JORDAN PICKFORD shut the door on the world champions with a sparkling debut.
The Everton keeper’s display eased fears about England’s strength in depth as the young Lions kept Germany at bay.
Pickford shone along with Ruben Loftus-cheek and striker Tammy Abraham.
Pickford staked a case for prising the No.1 jersey from Joe Hart with a very confident display. Loftus-cheek provided creativity in midfield and Abraham had a shot deflected agonisingly wide.
A delighted Southgate said: “I thought our use of the ball was excellent tonight.
“And Ruben Loftus-cheek did everything I knew he could do. He’s capable of anything.”
The only downside for England was a first-half injury to centre-half Phil Jones.
