AGE WILL CATCH UP WITH PAL

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

DENMARK boss Age Hareide used to lodge with Martin O’neill – but now the Ireland boss wants to send him on a summer holiday.

Team-mates at Manchester City and Norwich, the pair will be rivals when they cross swords in the heat of World Cup battle tonight.

But during their days at the Canaries, Hareide used to rent a room in a house owned by O’neill.

“Since I was a better player, I was earning more money and Age had no place to stay so he stayed with me,” joked O’neill. “I charged him very, very cheap rent and he turned out to be a very good player, so I will send him a bill.

“I’ve kept in contact with him, not every year but over time, but he has an excellent reputation as a coach. He was a good tenant, he was staying for a while until he got his own place.”

And Hareide returned the compliment to O’neill, revealing with a laugh: “He was a good landlord! They were happy days.

“Martin was captain at Norwich and was an inspirational leader. I only have good memories.”
