KENNY SHIELS has revealed his son Dean’s anguish at being verbally abused over his missing eye during Dunfermline’s clash with Falkirk last month.
And he applauded the
SFA for throwing the book at Bairns striker Kevin O’hara who copped an eight-game ban.
O’hara’s team-mate Joe Mckee is also accused of mocking the Northern Ireland international’s (above) disability and will learn his fate on Thursday.
Derry City boss Shiels believes there should be zero tolerance in sport for anyone crossing the line.
He said: “I commend the SFA. There are people who have disadvantages and handicaps in sport and life in general and it’s not good practice. I have no doubt the boy regrets it.
“This has been difficult for Dean and it’s hurt him.
“He’s had this throughout his career but previously it’s come from the stands. To get it from fellow pros is what hurts him.”
