Loose Woman trots off show

RUTH Langsford was the seventh celeb to leave Strictly last night after judge Craig Revel Horwood described her foxtrot as like a horse.

The Loose Women host had wiped away tears on Saturday night, admitting she found the dance tough and the song Mack the Knife emotional because it was her late father’s favourite. Having ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard, she lost out in the dance-off to Paralympian Jonnie Peacock, who was voted through by all four judges. Earlier dance partner Anton du Beke disagreed when Darcey Bussell said Ruth, 57, had been “massively out of her depth”.

He argued: “I thought she was out of her depth in the rumba, I thought in this dance she was massively in her depth.” Proud husband Eamonn Holmes, 57, later tweeted: “Even if this all ends tonight I will always be grateful to @Theantondubeke for sticking up for my Girl.”

During his critique, Craig said: “When you got into foxtrot I felt like you were actually trotting like a horse.” And Darcey agreed, adding: “Sadly there was no glide.”

Ruth said she was disappointed her exit meant Anton would not make it to the next show at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Thanking him, she added: “He’s made this whole thing so much fun, I’ve absolutely loved it, even the judges’ comments.

Anton, 51, said getting voted off this year was “by far the most difficult” of his 14 years on the BBC1 show. He added: “The thing that upsets me the most is not being able to spend all the time that we do together – you are beyond the most joyous person I’ve ever met.”
