Blue Planet is seen by 80m in Red China
BLUE Planet II almost broke the internet in China as 80 million people tuned in to the first two shows.
Sir David Attenborough’s campaigning natural history programme is available via online channel Tencent Video.
One viewer in Beijing, Fankucha Zhendi, said: “I’ve been crying all the time, it’s just so beautiful.”
Its popularity in China is surprising, as the repressive government means there are no environmental movements or campaigns and animal rights are a low priority.
The audience will get another huge boost early next year when Blue Planet II launches in other countries including America, Australia, France and Germany.
