Ireland boss drawing on experience
JOE SCHMIDT admits the last time he really enjoyed an Ireland win was against Australia last November, and prior to that it was the Six Nations championship triumph of 2014 – his first campaign in charge.
“I know the year after that we had other issues that were pressing at the time, so it probably goes back to that time, the first Six Nations,” said Schmidt.
“The Australia game last year, you could come up for air after that.
“I really enjoyed Australia, the character displayed in that game, the way guys mixed and matched and had to cover positions.”
Speaking after his side’s four-try destruction of
South Africa, Schmidt added: “We dive straight back into the detail tonight, tomorrow and try to make sure we’re prepared and if we do make changes make sure those guys have had a good prep window.”
