BAXTER HAILS HIS BRU CRU
Belfast men progress to semi
CRUSADERS boss Stephen Baxter believes his team can now go the distance in the Scottish Irn Bru Challenge Cup.
The Irish League side came from behind to defeat holders Dundee United at Tannadice Park to book their slot in the semi final draw.
Home skipper Fraser
Fyvie shot the Tangerines into an early second half lead, but the Crues came storming with goals from David Cushley and Gavin Whyte.
Beaming Baxter (inset) said: “I felt we really stepped up to the mark and deserved the win. We have done remarkably well in this competition. “We have produced some good performances, so there is no point in getting to this stage of the tournament and not giving it our best shot.
“We travelled to Scotland with a view of winning the game - and we did that.
“Now we can look forward to the semi final, but we have some massive games to negotiate before that, starting with a really difficult League cup tie with Linfield in midweek.
“With that tie in mind, we took the opportunity to rest a few players who have played a lot of football this season.
“But the lads who came in did a remarkable job, so it give me quite a selection headache.”
