THESE ANTICS DRIVE MEMADD

Dons boss points finger at fall guy Marcus

-

Maddison was accused of attempting to get Liam Trotter sent off after going head-to-head with the Dons midfielder.

And few can disagree with Ardley’s assessment after the disgraceful 85th-minute moment of play-acting.

Angry Ardley said: “I feel he will be embarrassed when he sees it. I don’t agree with trying to get a fellow player sent off.

“To try to get someone sent off is disappointing. It’s not what we want in the game.

“There was no way that anyone tried to throw a head at each other, they were just headto-head giving each other the eyeballs, handbags at 10 paces. But he is a really good player and super talented boy.”

Both Maddison and Trotter were yellow carded following the incident and it took the gloss off an entertaining contest.

Wimbledon were ahead just 37 seconds in after Lyle Taylor scored for the sixth time in six games with a fine 20-yard finish.

But Maddison helped turn the game as his 26th-minute freekick led to Danny Lloyd-mcgoldrick heading home his first league goal with the help of the woodwork and the head of Dons skipper Barry Fuller.

Then Maddison put Posh ahead, converting a penalty on 38 minutes after a stupid Tom Soares challenge.

Wimbledon were back on terms in first-half stoppage time as Cody Mcdonald converted a 70-yard Deji Oshilaja punt.

But despite the visitors having the better of the second half, thanks to Maddison’s inventiveness, both sides were forced to settle for a point.

Posh boss Grant Mccann said: “I didn’t the incident, there were lots of bodies. Marcus had an assist and a goal. We are lucky to have him, he’s a tremendous player and when he is on song he is hard to deal with.”
