MPS will get to vote on Brexit deal, says Davis

-

MINISTERS last night made a screeching Brexit U-turn to dodge a potential Commons defeat.

MPS were told they will get a “meaningful” vote on a deal before the UK quits the bloc in March 2019.

The terms of Britain’s exit would have to be put through via legislation that MPS could reject or amend, Brexit Secretary David Davis revealed.

His reversal came hours before the Government’s EU Withdrawal Bill returns to the Commons.

Tory rebels were tipped to demand a say on the final deal, paving the way for a possible defeat.

Shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer said: “This is a significant climbdown from a weak Government.”

MPS warned that Mr Davis’s pledge may not stop Britain “crashing out without a deal”.

Sir Keir said: “That sort of no deal is unthinkable.”
