Crooner and Swift set to hit venue

- BY DEMELZA de BURCA

MICHAEL Buble fans were at fever pitch after the crooner revealed he is to play his biggest gig in Ireland at Croke Park next year.

And the Wildest Dreams of Taylor Swift followers could come true as the pop superstar is also rumoured to be hitting Dublin next summer.

Canadian singer Buble, 42, yesterday confirmed he will be centre stage at Croke on July 7.

The dad of two said: “I can’t wait to come over to see my fans in Dublin and play Croke Park for my largest ever Irish show.

“You guys have been patient and I can’t thank you enough for all your support. And for those of you that haven’t seen me live, well… I just haven’t met you yet!”

Tickets for the fullyseated concert, Buble’s only Irish show in 2018, go on sale on Friday at

9am. The Grammy and Juno award-winner sold out the Aviva Stadium in 2010 followed by four nights at the O2 in 2013.

And in another boost for music fans Croke Park stadium director Peter Mckenna yesterday hinted Swift will play the 80,000-capacity venue.

Speaking yesterday he said “nothing is confirmed as of yet”.

Swift, 26, previously played two soldout gigs on her 1989 tour in the 3Arena in 2015 and fans are eager for her return.

The US singer has just released new album Reputation and fans are awaiting the announcement of a tour, which may come on her birthday next month.

It has been confirmed Swift will visit Ireland next year after followers received an email revealing those who pre-order her record will get a code giving them pre-sale preference for her 2018 shows.

However, U2 have said they will not be returning to Croke Park next summer after last July’s gig.
