Job dilemma for over-50s
NEARLY four in 10 unemployed older workers have not had a job for more than a year, says a report.
The Centre for Ageing Better believes 3.3 million people aged 50 to 64 do not work for various reasons.
It says about a million left the workforce “involuntarily” and many then find it hard to find a job.
Centre spokeswoman Jemma Mouland said: “Too many older workers are being pushed out because of poor health, caring responsibilities or redundancy.”
