Julie took her new lifestyle to extreme levels – she became a strict vegetarian eating vegan wherever she could, fitted water filters in her home to extract any chemicals from their supply, and replaced her household cleaning products with natural alternativ­es.

While her children weren’t vegetarian, Julie made sure all the food she ate with them was natural and healthy, and soon her efforts started to pay off.

“Within literally a month I felt like a different person. The difference was dramatic. I admit part of it was psychologi­cal – I felt like I had taken control and I was doing something positive. But the kids had both been poorly too.

“Isabella was on antibiotic­s every single month, but from being a really sickly child I noticed a huge difference in her. It was like night and day. After two years of struggling, I finally felt like me again.”

Now Julie has been able to come off the thyroid drugs, monitored by her GP, and neither she n the children have taken any antibiotic­s in 11 yea

She has since relaxed her strict regime and liv by the 80/20 rule – eat healthy 80% of the time a allow yourself a treat 20% of the time.
