MAIDEN CITY BOWLED OVER
Derry side hit for six by TW Braga with help of Atari hat-trick.. but boss Kirk heaps praise on the opposition
FORGET the 6-1 scoreline in favour of TW Braga against Maiden City Colts in the under-16 Northern Ireland Cup at Lisburn for the approach to the game of football is more important.
A hat-trick for Hassan Atari, an opening double from David Forsythe and a Jay Mcknight goal made up Braga’s six, while Shea Browne got the consolation strike.
Paul Kirk (circled) is manager at Braga but he was impressed by the coaching at Maiden City and the approach to the game, particularly by four men – David Donnell, Noel O’donnell, Peter Mullally and Frank Hegarty.
Noel said the Colts always get the ball on the ground and play football. He added they encourage the boys to be at their best off the pitch and they have watched many make the grade.
Kirk agreed the set-up at Maiden City was absolutely superb.
