Bridging the gap at Carrick-a-rede
AN iconic rope bridge was replaced yesterday to ensure its future safety.
Steel ropes and North American pine have been used on the new £6,000 crossing at Carrick-a-rede, near Ballintoy in Co Antrim.
The National Trust, which maintains the popular tourist attraction, said the new structure can take a strain of 10 tonnes – equivalent valent to the weight of a bus.
