Music to Peaky Blinders fans

-

THERE’S good news and bad news for Peaky Blinders fans.

Show boss Steven Knight says not only will there be a musical, he’s planning a film, too. Hurrah!

But l eading man Cillian Murphy – who plays Tommy

– isn’t so keen on the singing version. Boo!

Steven tells us: “The musical, we are definitely going to do. I’m writing the book [the script for a musical] and there are New York people who are going to produce it. The idea is to start in Birmingham and go to Broadway.” Then next up for Steven, who already has a Peaky Blinders clothing line, will be a movie about the Brummie gangsters of 100 years ago.

Cillain muses: “In theory, if the writing for the film was as good as the show, I would do it. But the musical is not for me. I would definitely pass on that one.”

The fourth series starts tonight and Steven is thinking about a fifth.

“Why stop when you are having fun?” he says.

This run is very on-message as it examines the gender pay gap.

“So much in the 1920s sowed the seeds of what we are experiencing now,” says Helen Mccrory, who plays Tommy’s fierce Aunt Polly.
