Kay tours again after 8 years
Comedian to play two Belfast gigs
COMIC Peter Kay is centre stage again after announcing four Irish dates on his first standup tour in eight years.
The 44-year-old will perform gigs in Belfast and Dublin with tickets going on sale on Sunday.
Kay, whose mum Deirdre is from Co Tyrone, told how he can’t wait to play live shows again. He said: “I really miss it. I know how lucky I am to be making HUNDREDS of people braved the cold to watch the traditional Christmas lights switch-on in Lisburn last night.
Stilt walkers, pantomime characters and, of course, the main man himself television series and have really loved these past few years working on Car Share but I miss doing stand-up.
“As terrifying as it is, when it works there’s nothing more fun and exciting.
“Plus, a lot has happened in the last eight years, with Trump, Twitter and my nan getting her front bush trimmed at the age of 96.” Kay, whose last tour in Santa led the festive fun through the city centre. Music was provided by a Christmas samba band, a concert ensemble and carol singing by Lisburn Community Children’s Choir. 2010 is the biggest selling of all time, will hit Belfast’s SSE Arena on January 13 and 14 before appearing at Dublin’s 3 Arena on February 1 and 2 in 2019.
Since his last tour, Kay has been busy acting, writing, directing, and producing. His most notable turns include Car Share as well as leading the Dance For Life charity events.
The star is appearing on RTE’S Late Late Show tonight and host Ryan Tubridy told how Kay called him and asked to be a guest
He said: “He’s flying in especially, literally flying in, doing the show, flying home.” Tickets go on sale at 10am on Sunday from Ticketmaster and SSE Arena Box Office.
