CAMPION

DRAMA, 5pm Adapted from Margery Allingham’s early 20thcentury novels, Campion stars former Doctor Who, Peter Davison, as the classy sleuth. And when we say classy, we mean that he solves all crimes properly attired in suit, bow tie or cravat, with help from his ‘man servant’ Magersfontein Lugg and his Lagonda sports car. Yes, exactly.

In this first ever episode, straight from the 1989 BBC archives, Campion battles to save a relic from a gang of art thieves.

LIVE AT THE APOLLO Dave, 9pm

It seems like this stand-up comedy stage show – live from London’s Hammersmith Apollo Theatre – is on all the time. And you’d be right – a 13th series is due to start next week.

But it owes its longevity to a steady stream of mainstream headline acts, with a reputation for introducing new talent, too. In this early episode from series six, there’s stand-up from John Bishop, and Sean Lock moans about Bags for Life.

THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES

DRAMA, 8pm A new series of the New Zealand detective drama, with outlandish plots and often crazy dialogue.

Brokenwood is a bit like our own Midsomer Murders, in that there’s a death every five minutes – why on earth would you live there?

In this series four opener, when Kristin, pictured, Breen and Gina celebrate Mike’s birthday with a picnic in Brokenwood Domain, they are witness to a fatal skydiving accident.

MOST HAUNTED

REALLY, 10pm Each to their own, but I’ll never understand why people would willingly go off in search of something scary. Have they not seen Scream?

Nonetheless, Yvette Fielding and her team are making a living out of it, and it’s fun, if not slightly bemusing to watch.

This time the investigation continues into the Judges’ Lodgings where they are under attack – something is trying to get through a door. Will they turn around and run? Of course not.
