Mo can make mark on this England side

TWO months have passed since Mark Sampson was sacked and the England team has finally got the chance to put everything behind them and show they mean business.

They stamped their dominance on

Bosnia and Herzegovina last night, with a 4-0 win (above) at Walsall in World Cup qualifying, and should enjoy a similar margin of victory when they take on Kazakhstan at Colchester on Tuesday.

These matches give caretaker coach Mo Marley a real chance to put her own impression on the squad, and maybe put herself in the frame for the permanent job.

I for one would like to see her be given a chance.

I wouldn’t expect England to deviate too far from the way they played under Sampson. We have to remember his style was very successful.

One difference I do expect to see is a slight change in personnel. She’s brought Kiera Walsh and Leah Williamson in to the squad this time and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them involved against Kazakhstan.

Mo has the advantage of having worked with all of these girls at Under-19 level.

One thing that can only be of huge benefit to the Lionesses, regardless of who is at the helm, is the experience of players going to play abroad.

Jodie Taylor (below) is the most recent star to make the move, leaving Arsenal to go back to America. She is following in the footsteps of Lucy Bronze and Toni Duggan, who have both left the WSL this year.

The impact this will have on the England squad shouldn’t be underestimated.

Lucy is at Lyon, arguably the best team in the world. If she can bring what she has learnt in France into her England displays it will be a big boost for everyone.
