I’m hoping to shoulder the burden of running at Navan this weekend

-

I took a heavy fall off Sizing Tennessee and got a good kicking in Ascot yesterday. But I’m hoping the damage to my let shoulder isn’t too serious.

I had a fall off the same horse, at the second last, in Cheltenham in his previous run. Yesterday, he reached for the first and we were probably going a gear too quick for his liking when we parted company at the second. He’s just not a ‘natural’.

My left shoulder was very sore. And I was stood down for the day, missing my only later ride,

And I won’t ride today, when was my only booked ride in Ascot. X-rays on my shoulder were my priority when I left Ascot. And the results will decide whether I’ll ride in Navan tomorrow, when I’m down for two rides,

for Gigginstown, in the Grade 3 novice hurdle and in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle. I just hope my shoulder isn’t broken!

It was a pleasant surprise to hear from my agent (Ciaran O’toole) that I was booked to ride Creation in the maroon and white in the Monksfield Novice Hurdle.

She won at Tipperary and finished second to Just Janice in a Grade 3 mares race in the north last time. And she’ll be a good spin tomorrow, in an effort to get some black type.

But she looks up against it in a hot race, with

likely to be very hard to beat. He’s a special horse. And it’ll be interesting to see how he copes with the two and a half miles tomorrow. He has always looked like a real two-miler to me.

Pairofbrowneyes is potentially well-handicapped in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle and should run well.

It’s a while since he’s won, but he is tough and consistent. And he’s rated 18lb lower over hurdles, which should give a him a real shout in a tough handicap, where Gordon (Elliott) holds a strong hand with and

I won the Troytown on Empire Of Dirt last year and, while I couldn’t get a ride in tomorrow’s race, I’m really looking forward to seeing

in his first start for Willie Mullins. He’s rated 149, but could be a good bit ahead of that mark. He loves soft ground and has won twice at Navan.

I don’t think weight will stop him tomorrow. And, if he has improved as much as Total Recall did for a change of stables, he could win the Troytown without coming off the bridle.

has a chance too. He ran well in the Irish National and had a nice prep run at Clonmel last week. But he could be high enough.
