Couple reveal U-turn on TV show

DANIEL and Majella O’donnell have changed their minds and will return with a new series of their B&B Roadtrip.

The show proved to be a massive ratings hit for UTV and later RTE and filming for the new series will kick off early next year.

After initially ruling another run out, Daniel told the Daily Mirror: “We’re going to do another taping in March. When we did the last one, Majella and I thought that was enough of it but almost everyone who we meet asks, ‘When are you going to do another show?’

“RTE wanted us to do another one right away and we said we wouldn’t do any more.

“There was talk of us doing a trip in the US but we’ve settled for one here. We’re looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile, Daniel revealed he and Majella are homeless this Christmas as TV architect Dermot Bannon completes renovations on their Donegal house for RTE’S Room To Improve.

They hoped to be in their home for the festive season but it now looks like Dermot and his team won’t be finished until February. Daniel said: “We’ll spend Christmas with [Majella’s daughter] Siobhan, her husband and their daughter Olivia in Banbridge.

“Our house is a building site but it’s going OK. We haven’t killed him yet and he hasn’t killed us.

“We’re very sure of what we want and he’s trying to tell us what we should have. He has great ideas, we’ll just have to wait and see.

“We didn’t change the size of the house at all. There was an extension on the plans and we said we didn’t need one – it’s big enough.

“We had four bedrooms and we still have four bedrooms, but two are not where they were.

The 55-year-old singer, who recently returned from a three-week residency in Missouri, said not spending Christmas at home isn’t a big deal for him and Majella.

He said: “We’re hoping to do the reveal show in February.

“We were supposed to be in for Christmas, initially that’s what they spoke about but we thought that was a bit ambitious anyway.

“We’re staying with Majella’s mother at the moment and sure we have plenty of places to go.”
