TOWN ARE TO THE FOUR
Shield final date awaits for Banbridge after they see off Hillsborough Bo
BANBRIDGE Town Juniors are through to the final of the under-14 section of the Lisburn Youth Shield thanks to two double strikes in a 4-2 win over Hillsborough Boys.
Ethan Mount and Daniel Scullion were the stand-outs for the eventual winners, helping themselves to a brace apiece.
Hillsborough started brightly but it was Town who were a goal up at half-time.
Shortly after two good saves from Town keeper Ross Watson, Mount scored direct from a corner.
Boro leveled early in the second-half through Luca Mulholland – who beat his marker before shooting into the top left hand corner of the net.
Mount responded with his second goal of the game and a good delivery from another corner allowed Scullion this time to finish the job. Hillsborough got back into the match when Carter Waring cut in from the right and shot low into the net.
Set-pieces were proving fruitful for Town and they wrapped up the game when Scullion completed his double from another corner.
Banbridge manager Rory Hill said the inclusion of Ethan Mount and Ryan Meara steadied the team while the introduction of Liam Og Magennis added steel in midfield. He added: “A special mention for Scullion and Watson, who made three vital saves but my man of the match would be Mount who scored two goals and had two assists.”
Hillsborough’s Justin Sheppard admitted they had a good opening 25 minutes but Banbridge took over.
He said: “We were always in the game but didn’t defend well. Banbridge played well and were worthy winners.”
