OLDEST flinger in town Paul Lim celebrated his stunning upset with a midnight mystery tour of north London – to find some fish and chips.

And, as the new codfather of the oche savoured his date with two-time world champion Gary Anderson on Friday, he tucked into his favourite dish with a reminder that he has already beaten the Flying Scotsman once this year.

Lim, 63, became the new darling of Alexandra Palace by knocking out former Lakeside king Mark Webster in the first round of the William Hill PDC World Championship.

He became the oldest player to win a tie at the tournament since Northern Ireland’s John Magowan beat Chris Mason in the first round nine years ago.

But, instead of going out on the lash, the Singapore qualifier asked Xiao Chen Zong v Bernie Smith

Michael Smith v Steve Lennon Simon Whitlock v Martin Schindler Justin Pipe v Zong/smith PDC driver Gary Stanford, who shuttles the players from their hotel to Ally Pally, to seek out a chippy.

Lim, the first man to throw a televised nine-darter back in 1990, was so surprised by his triumph that his travel plans are in chaos.

He said: “I was supposed to go back to Hong Kong this week, so I will have to change my flights now. If I beat Gary, I will bring my whole family over for Christmas.”

Now, Lim hopes he can shock Anderson again in the second round, after Singapore knocked Scotland out of the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt six months ago.

“I’ve known Gary a long time and I hope he’s forgotten what happened a few months ago,” said Lim. “I know British crowds love an underdog, I felt their support when I played Mark.

“I know I’ll have to play well to get them on my side again. But I want to do well as people here still remember my ninedarter.”
