MUM DIED IN THE ARMS OF HER INJURED DAUGHTER Distraught Charlotte tells of ordeal

A YOUNG woman paid tribute yesterday to her brave mother who died in her arms.

Jayne Reat Toal is thought to have stepped in to help her daughter Charlotte when an incident occurred in her home on Christmas Day.

Mrs Reat Toal died from injuries sustained during the incident in Lisburn, Co Antrim.

Charlotte, a dancer, suffered stab wounds to her head, face and neck.

But she remained conscious and managed to hold her mother in her arms as she tragically passed away.

Mrs Reat Toal is understood to have sustained repeated stab wounds at the property in Mornington Lane on Christmas Day.

Devastated Charlotte was expected to attend a meeting with police to formally identify her mother’s remains yesterday.

She paid tribute to her

mum on social media on Christmas Day saying she “died in my arms”. Charlotte added: “I was stabbed twice in the head once in my face and once to the back of my neck. “I am with family and have to identify my beautiful mother’s body tomorrow which is not something I ever expected to be doing.”

She added she wished she could trade places with her beloved mum.

Charlotte said: “You’re my hero forever and always and I’ll never forget you and I promise I will get you justice. I love you my beautiful mummy forever and always.” Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigat­ion following the death of a woman at a house in the Lisburn area. A 19-year-old man has been arrested.”
