Dan: Cheryl shows age is no obstacle

YOU’RE never too old to get your skates on. That’s the message pro dancer Daniel Whiston wants TV viewers to get from the show.

Dancing with Cheryl, Dan is keen to show an older generation of women they are still capable of trying new things even if they doubt their ability.

“There are so many ladies that say to me, ‘Am I too late to try?’” he says. “You’re never too late. Cheryl is proof that if you’re writing yourself off it’s wrong to do that. Have a go!”

The 41-year-old Blackpool-born skater won the first series of Dancing On Ice in 2006 with actress Gaynor Faye, the fifth with former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon and the eighth with Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle.

The show is back after four years off our screens, and Dan thinks it’s better for the rest.

“It’s such a good show,” he says. “But it was really healthy it took a break because there’s a surge of interest now it’s back.” the window and were taken to hospital with band members Bobby G and Jay Aston.

Mike was in a coma for three days and given a 50-50 chance of survival. It is no surprise Cheryl is wary of hurting her spine – but that fear did once cause her more pain. The singer broke an ankle while skydiving in ITV’S reality show Drop! The Celebrity in 2003, after ignoring advice to land on her bottom. She remembers:
