Traumatic burglaries target OAPS

THE elderly have been targeted in a spate of traumatic burglaries.

A number of houses in the Newtownabb­ey area of Co Antrim were broken into and ransacked before items including cash and jewellery were reported stolen.

The PSNI said all of the victims were aged over 60.

A spokesman added: “We recognise the traumatic nature of these crimes.

“The first of these was at a property in the Glebe Park area of Carnmoney on Monday between 2pm and 6pm.

“A house on Glebe Road was targeted the following day between 3.15pm and 6.15pm.

“Another burglary was carried out between

3.45pm on Monday and 9.30am on Tuesday at a house in the Woodland Crescent area of Whiteabbey.

“A property was also entered between 3pm and 9pm on Tuesday in the Whitehouse Park area of Whiteabbey.”
