Appeal over mum & girl hit-and-run

POLICE are investigat­ing a suspected hit-and-run after a woman and her daughter were struck at a zebra crossing.

The woman and her sixyear-old were crossing the road at Belvoir Street, off the Lower Newtownard­s Road in East Belfast, when they were hit.

One family member said the little girl was “knocked flying” by the collision.

The PSNI posted on its East Belfast Facebook: “Only details known are a small black vehicle was involved and failed to stop.

“This occurred around 19:55. Both mother and daughter are being treated for their injuries which are not life threatenin­g.

“If you can assist with our inquiries please contact 101.”
