THE discovery of primitive moth fossils from 200 million years ago is set to shed new light on the insects’ mysterious evolution.

Experts say the 70 wing scales and fragments found in rocks on the Triassic-jurassic boundary in Germany are the earliest fossilised evidence of moths. They are 10 million years older than the previous record holder Archaeolepis mane, found in Dorset.

Dr Timo van Eldijk, of Utrecht University, said they were “exceptionally well-preserved specimens”, adding: “The early history of these insects remains murky and mired in a poor fossil record.” THE dismembered bodies of a brother and sister feared killed in a Satanic ritual have been found in plastic bags on a rubbish heap.

The boy was aged around seven, the girl about 11 and one had been doped up with drink.

Police in Novo Hamburgo, southern Brazil, have arrested four suspects while another three are said to have gone on the run.

Officers said a “temple of Lucifer” around 20 miles away is the suspected murder scene.

They found a cape and mask of a suspect known as the Wizard. The victims are believed to have come from outside the country.
