Williams in for Sarries’ Welsh trip

- BY ALEX SPINK

LIAM WILLIAMS has handed Saracens a massive boost by declaring himself fit for Saturday’s do-or-dai mission to Wales.

The Welsh star has been sidelined since suffering a “hernia-groin issue” on national duty in November.

But, with Saracens knowing only victory over Ospreys will keep their Champions Cup dream alive, Williams has been given the green light.

Team boss Mark Mccall said: “Liam’s an exceptional player and it’s great to get him back just before he’ll go away again (with Wales)!

“It’s always a calculated gamble to bring someone back who hasn’t played for a bit.

“But you have the odd exceptional player who is able to do that – Liam is probably in that category.”

Williams’ return means the cup holders go to Swansea pretty much fully loaded – as Billy Vunipola, Maro Itoje and Brad Barritt all came back last week.

It is a far cry from the hole Sarries found themselves last month when back-to-back defeats at Clermont took their losing run to seven games.
