Fears for 10 cats missing in hunt dog rampage

- BY AMY-CLARE MARTIN

FEARS are growing for 10 cats still missing after out-of-control foxhounds stormed a rescue home.

The dogs got into the 100-acre sanctuary during a drag hunt with the East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt.

Eleven of the 21 animals originally missing on Tuesday have been found at the Greenacres centre in Brede run by exmodel Celia Hammond.

But staff fear others could have been killed as their disappearance is out of character.

Search parties have been scouring the undergrowth with heatseeking equipment.

Assistant manager Carolyn Mcbreath said: “We are very worried. If the hounds got hold of a cat it would have been ripped apart.

“We did a big search but lots of strangers crashing around will scare the cats even more as lots are very sensitive.”

A spokesman for the hunt said: “The huntsman apologised to the owners right away. The hunt is not aware of any missing animals or injuries.”

Police said no offences had taken place.
