Staff ‘filmed beating up teens in jail’
STAFF at a youth detention centre were secretly filmed beating and abusing boys, a court has heard.
Alleged violence by G4S employees included headlocks, kicks and abusive language, leaving teenagers crying in pain.
BBC Panorama journalist Robert Padmore filmed staff at Medway Secure Training centre, Rochester, Kent, in 2015.
Team leader Anthony Dance, 27, boasted of hitting one teen in the head with a metal detector wand, calling him a “fat little s**t”, the jury heard.
Mr Padmore told Maidstone crown court: “He acted as a bully.”
Dance, Matthew Cunningham, 37, Gareth Evans, 27, and Christopher Lomax, 36 deny misconduct. Trial continues.
