Some Finn not right about this

- BY GARETH WALKER

IRELAND captain Liam Finn has called on the international game to stop treating nations outside the big three as second class.

Finn’s side came within a fingertip of a World Cup quarter-final place last year, but still don’t know when or where their next match will be played.

The scrum-half says a long-term plan to allow sides other than Australia, New Zealand and England to flourish must now be created.

Finn said: “England have announced 12 months in advance that they’re playing a three-match test series with New Zealand, and even that’s not long enough.

“At the same time we have a provisional

European Cup but we don’t know anything about it.

“When are they going to tell us? When can we start planning for it? And how can we expect Super League players to play in it if we don’t even know what we’re doing yet?

“If we’re flying by the seat of our pants and getting told fixtures three or four months beforehand we’ve got no chance.

“If it’s always going to be an after thought then it will always be second best.”
