‘NOT SURE MY NEYM WILL BE IN THE SQUAD’

-

JOE GOMEZ claims he has got “so much work to do” to get into the

World Cup squad – even after cancelling out Neymar.

Gomez made his full

England debut against

Brazil in November, when he faced the world’s most expensive player, and managed to ensure the Paris Saintgermain star did not get on the scoresheet.

England defender

Gomez, 20, said: “As a young boy growing up, playing for England is something that you dream of. Facing Neymar (above) was something special.

“It was something that I was wary of before the game, but it was nice because it was a big opportunity to play against the best in the world.

“It obviously can be difficult, but can be a blessing to have that chance and learn. It was the same for the whole team because Brazil are probably the best in the world, so it was a great experience.

“Honestly, I feel there’s so much left to do. England was nice, the experience I got, but I definitely don’t think I’m in the position to sit here and think, ‘Yeah,

I’m going to get the call’. I’ve got so much work to do.”
