Family of Joleen set ‘for worst’

Prayers plea for injured mum of one

- BY SHAUNA CORR

A CRITICALLY injured woman’s mum is asking for prayers as her family prepares for the worst.

Joleen Corr, 27, was left with severe brain injuries in an alleged attack for which her ex is to stand trial.

The mum of one has been paralysed in hospital since November 30, 2016.

But now her devastated family have been told their “wee fighter” is nearing the end.

Mum Carol said: “We are looking for prayers to give us strength.

“They told us a few days ago to get prepared and that she’s not getting better. It’s the worst thing you could imagine.”

The Corr family had been hoping for a miracle after Joleen was left in a coma following her attack in Thomas Russell Park, Downpatrick.

Since then the family has been by her bedside every day.

Carol added: “It’s taken away a part of all of us because she’s not getting through this. There haven’t been complications it’s just due to the brain injury. The medication is not working and she’s really poorly.” Joleen’s little brother Jim paid tribute to his sister in a heart-rending post on Facebook.

He said: “13 months on and yesterday got news that will be hard to accept as a family. It ain’t easy losing a loved one and a big sister, still can’t get my head around the news but its what’s best!

“As a family it’s affected all our lives big time. I’m soo proud to have you as a big sister, such a nice person inside and out kind. Would do anything for ya and miss our fights ahahaha. “You battled every day, every min and every second since it’s happened and are still battling my wee fighter. “It’s never gonna be easy for us to let go but at the same time its killing us all watching you every day not knowing what’s going on and not being able to enjoy your life the way you should be doing with your son. “I love you and I’ll be with you ‘til the end and forever.”

Michael O’connor, 31, has been charged with her attempted murder – a charge he denies.
