Television gold revealed

THE NATIONAL TELEVISION AWARDS ITV, 7.30pm

-

THE nation gasped when vengeful Doctor Foster romped with her cheating ex in the kitchen.

And we were horrified – and then pleasantly surprised – after Bake Off jumped ship to Channel 4. Our jaws dropped open when we first heard Tokio Myers tinkle the ivories on Britain’s Got Talent.

And in all that time, we STILL didn’t know who shoved evil Emma Barton off the viaduct in Emmerdale.

Fair to say, it’s been a busy year of TV, packed with great moments, and now it’s time for all the stars to dress up in their finery and scoop up some awards (or at the very least, practise gracious loser faces).

Dermot O’leary hosts tonight’s 23rd NTA ceremony, live from London’s O2 Arena, with all wins chosen by viewers via a nationwide poll.

This year, the NTAS are paying tribute to the late great Sir Bruce Forsyth by naming a major prize after him. Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Graham Norton Show, Celebrity Juice and All Round to Mrs Brown’s have the honour of battling it out for the inaugural Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.

There’s a brand new category, too as Crime Drama recognises primetime favourites like Line Of Duty, Broadchurch and Sherlock.

Ant and Dec will be hoping to make it a 17-year winning streak for TV presenter, but have stiff competition from Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

And expect affectionate jeering among the soaps as they go into battle. Don’t miss it!
