£1m win just the job

Skint uni lad, 21, scoops lotto prize.. but work quest goes on

A HARD-UP graduate, who has been turned down for 10 jobs, is celebratin­g after becoming a lottery millionair­e.

Alex Best, 21, left university last September with £24,000 of debt and had to work as a barman as he struggled to get his dream job.

But his luck changed when he was buying Skittles and decided to also get a Euromillio­ns Lucky Dip ticket, which won him £1million.

Alex said: “I was hoping my luck would change by finding a job. I never imagined what was going to happen. It’s amazing.”

The day after his win, Alex went for a job interview at Legoland Windsor, which he did not YOU’RE four times more likely to be struck by lightning than win the lottery jackpot.

That’s the odds after Camelot chiefs ballsed-up by increasing the pool of Lotto numbers from 49 to 59 in 2015.

Know-it-all bosses said players wanted bigger rolling jackpots. But most people just want a fair crack at winning a decent amount...or anything.

The fact they don’t mean players are deserting the lottery in droves. get. Alex, who moved back home to Shildon, Co Durham, after his degree in live event production, said: “I’m still determined to find a job even though I’ve won this.”

But he has left his bar job and plans to buy a house and a car.

Alex, who sits his driving theory test on Monday, said: “I’d love to buy an Aston Martin.

“It could be my first car when I’ve passed my test.”
