KEEPING FAITH WITH PALOMA
Pop star speaks out about the ‘worrying’ DUP She’s excited to bring tour to Belfast’s ‘good energy’
loneliness, isolation and single-parent mums.
“The empowerment of women to get out of abusive relationships.
“There’s lots of things I have tackled that I feel are personal to me without it being in the most obvious sense.” Paloma revaled she is looking forward to bringing her new tour to Belfast where “it’s guaranteed good energy”.
But she wasn’t so complimentary of the “worrying” DUP.
Paloma said: “They couldn’t be more the antithesis of my belief system if they tried.
“I worry in general for western civilisation because it seems to be pushing further and further right and that’s definitely not what I believe in.
“That’s what this album is about. A bit more compassion and empathy and less about trivial matters.
“I think ego is a massive problem in positions of power and with ego we lead towards corruption.”
Guilty, the second single on the new album, deals with Brexit.
But instead of taking a negative approach, the artist said she tried to see it from the perspective of those “that didn’t feel they were informed or regretted” their vote to leave Europe.
Paloma said: “I have never thought it was a good idea, but rather than be angry about it I was trying to empathise.
YESTERDAY
It was about me trying to understand.”
The singer also had some advice for youngsters: “Stay off social media. It seems to be like a playing field for abuse and vitriol and bullying and negativity. They should ban people from commenting if they haven’t got something nice to say.”
