Royal grounds for optimism
AS Meath prepare for their first home game of the 2018 League, the news came through that Pairc Tailteann will undergo a major facelift.
With its capacity having dwindled in recent years due to health and safety regulations, the Navan venue had planning permission granted for a 21,000 all-seater stadium. The first phase will likely see the construction of a 4,000 seater stand on the site of the current terracing and is set to cost around €10m, with a fundraising drive to get underway shortly.
“We urge the people of Meath, our supporters and patrons everywhere to support us in this venture as it will be of tremendous benefit to all in the GAA and will boost the local economy,” read a Meath county board statement
After an encouraging draw away to Roscommon last Sunday, MEATH will be looking to take full points as CLARE, who also shared the spoils in their opening game with Cavan, come to Navan. Meath’s result at Hyde Park was a more notable feat and they look the more likely to win.
TIPPERARY are in a strong position to kick on this time in division two after their struggles in 2010 and another promotion is no lofty aim, particularly after seeing off Cork. They can do likewise at home to
ROSCOMMON tomorrow, while CORK will do well to emerge from Newry with anything against a continually improving DOWN side.
Tonight CAVAN should get their first win against LOUTH, who were well beaten at home to Down last week.
