We reported the final radio message from Hull trawler Ross Cleveland which sank off Iceland in a gale. It was feared all 19 on board were lost. But one, Harry Eddon, survived.

35 YEARS AGO 1983

Gestapo chief Klaus Barbie arrived in France on war crime charges after he was linked to the murder of 4,000 Jews from 1942-1944. He died in prison in Lyon in 1991.

13 YEARS AGO 2005

Tony Blair overtook Harold Wilson to become Labour’s longest-serving PM after 2,838 days in office.
