Electricia­n Philip Ryan, 55, was knifed four times last June by Keith Beviss.

Beviss, 54, who claimed the religious group was persecutin­g him, then phoned his elderly father and a woman he knew, to tell them he had “just killed a bloke”, Exeter crown court was told.

He walked to a police station, not manned at the front desk, and rang 999 to say there had been a knifing in Honiton, Devon.

A policewoma­n realised Beviss was the killer when he told her the Jehovah’s Witnesses had “humiliated him and he had to do it.”

Beviss, of Honiton, admitted manslaught­er and will be sentenced later.
