ROYALS CAV BIG CHANCE TO GET INTO POSITION OF DOMINANCE

-

WITH no team on maximum points and only one on zero after two rounds, the picture in Division Two should become clearer this weekend.

Three teams are at the top on three points and two of them, near neighbours CAVAN and MEATH, meet at Kingspan Breffni Park this evening.

Cavan have gathered points against what appear to be two of the weaker sides in the division.

They scrambled a draw against Clare in Ennis before comfortably seeing Louth off at home last weekend.

With a draw in Roscommon followed by a stroll at home to Clare, Meath have performed to a higher standard in their two games. Andy Mcentee’s men can sneak a result to put themselves in a very strong position for a long awaited return to Division One.

TIPPERARY faltered at home to Roscommon, having set themselves up for a second win from as many games.

If they are to emerge as credible promotion contenders, then taking full points against CLARE in Ennis is essential.

With Clare smarting from a 14-point loss in Navan, Tipp should pick them off.

Even at this early stage, LOUTH look doomed to relegation. CORK, having recovered from their loss at home to Tipperary by claiming a notable victory over Down in Newry, are set to add to their momentum by dispatching Pete Mcgrath’s side at Pairc Ui Rinn.

ROSCOMMON’S win in Tipperary was the sort of result that sets a team on its way to promotion and Kevin Mcstay’s men needed to make up the ground after blowing a winning position at home to Meath seven days earlier.

Their opponents DOWN dropped points at home to Cork last weekend. Another defeat will diminish their margin of error in terms of returning to Division One but it’s difficult to see them emerging with anything from Dr Hyde Park.
