Travolta confirms Grease reunion plans for 40th anniversary of film
WELL-A well-a well! John Travolta has confirmed he’ll be having a blast this summer in a Grease reunion with Olivia Newton John.
A duet to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film has been a rumour for a while but now he’s given us the word, it’s got groove, it’s got meaning…
John, 64, said: “We have big plans this year. But I can’t announce them yet.
“I’m a couple of weeks away from it so stand by, but I could cry when I think about it. You are going to love it.” John and Olivia will return as high school sweethearts Danny Zucko and Sandy Olsson for the special performance around the date the film was released in June 1978, insiders claim.
John has been practising his singing as he prepares to work again with his Aussie co-star.
He added: “You’re the One that I Want, best duet ever. And Hopelessly Devoted to You, we’re gonna celebrate.”
A source connected to the reunion said: “John and Olivia absolutely want to sing again together. It’s just a case of making it the right project – stylish, cool and classy.” Olivia, 69, has said she hoped they would work together again but is battling her second bout of breast cancer, insisting she is “feeling good”.
Grease cost £3.6million in 1978 but earned £290million. The 40th anniversary edit of the film hits cinemas in April.
