‘Bland, dingy’ flyer lounges are slammed
Pay-as-you-go lounges at British airports often offer no more than a glass of cheap wine and a handful of crisps, say researchers.
They scored an average rating of just 2.4 out of five in Which? Travel’s inspections of the facilities, which charge up to £50.
Southend Skylife Lounge promises to let passengers “live the high life” but scored just one out of five.
It had no hot food, just pre-packed sandwiches.
Others were said to be “dingy”, “bland” and “claustrophobic”. Which? Travel editor Rory Boland said: “In many cases, you might be better off with a pie and a pint in the airport pub.”
The Airport Operators Association said: “Passengers are very satisfied with the high-quality service in UK airport terminals.”
