Probe after man found with head injuries

A MAN was found lying unconscious with serious head and leg injuries early yesterday.

Police are investigating whether he was the victim of a hit-and-run in the Springfield Road area of West Belfast .

The man, who is in his 30s, was discovered shortly after 6am.

Police have issued an appeal for anyone with any information as to how he came to be in such a condition to contact them.

Inspector Paul Noble said: “Shortly after 6am the man in his 30s was found close to the Springfield Road/ Crocus Street junction with serous heads injury and leg wounds.

“These wounds would be consistent with being knocked down by a car and that is one line of enquiry police are following. The man has since been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“I am appealing that anyone with information contact 101 quoting reference 349 11/03/18. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
