Boost profits by letting staff dish out red cards to bosses
WORKERS should be allowed to give bosses a “red card” as part of a thinktank’s proposed overhaul to make staff more productive.
Independent organisation Respublica also urged the Tories to put aside their “tortured and painful” history with unions, embracing them as a way to boost business.
Research has found a link between engaged staff and more profitable firms. A yellow and red card system would be an early warning and whistleblowing mechanism, Respublica said. It also called for new rules on workers being consulted on significant changes. Phillip Blond, director of Respublica, said: “In a modern service economy, productivity gains will come through improving the engagement and performance of employees yet, inexplicably, there is no national approach or agenda to achieve this.”
