Irish football ace helps fan in match riot
REPUBLIC footballer Jeff Hendrick brightened up the day of one West Ham fan after he was caught up in Saturday’s riots.
The Hammers lost 3-0 to Hendrick’s Burnley side and angry supporters invaded the pitch.
The coaching staff let children sit on their substitutes’ bench to avoid being caught in the conflicts in the stands.
Dubliner Hendrick sat with one young fan and gave him his football boots.
The boy’s father wrote on Twitter: “Was just wondering if you could get a message to Jeff Hendricks at Burnley please. During the trouble he looked after my son and gave his boots.
“He turned a bad day into a magical one and I am incredibly grateful.”
