Baby monitor catches thief

A BURGLAR was seen breaking in to a house on a baby monitor – by a family on holiday in Australia.

Coran Bateman, 31, was stealing property including a £10,000 opal necklace when he triggered the device, which sent a text message to the owners.

The police were called and nabbed Bateman, of no fixed address, with jewellery and electrics in the hallway of the house in Old Marston, Oxon.

He admitted burglary at Oxford crown court and was jailed for 17 months.
