Murty out to silence his snipers
RANGERS manager
Graeme Murty has urged his players to silence the critics and ensure their Old Firm derby setback does not derail their recent improvement.
The Light Blues went into Sunday’s encounter with Celtic with confidence after six consecutive wins.
But they missed the chance to cut the deficit at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership to three points after falling to a 3-2 Ibrox defeat against the 10-man champions.
With Celtic now nine points clear with a game in hand, any hopes Rangers had of sparking a title race have vanished.
But Rangers still have to see off the challenge of Aberdeen and Hibernian for second place and have a William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic to look forward to on April 15.
And Murty aims to make sure his players show resilience after Sunday’s blow.
“I said to the players, every man and his dog will be telling us everything that we did wrong and all the players aren’t good enough and loads and loads of stuff from the outside coming in,” he told Rangers TV.
“We have to be strong and make sure we go on another run again and prove those people wrong.
“But, more than that, we have to show that what we have built so far this season can’t be undone by one negative result.”
