JOSE MOURINHO branded Frank de Boer “the worst manager in Premier League history” after the Dutchman criticised his handling of Marcus Rashford.

De Boer (left) claimed Mourinho was not an ideal boss for Rashford at Manchester United, because the young striker would get limited game time. But Mourinho (right) hit back at De

Boer, sacked by Crystal Palace after four straight league defeats and no goals scored. “I read something, some quote from the worst manager in the history of the Premier League – Frank de Boer,” said Mourinho. “He was saying it was not good for Marcus to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win.

“But if Marcus was coached by Frank, he would lose, because he lost every game. But I try to give the best to the kid.” De Boer, speaking as a TV pundit after Rashford marked his first start since Boxing Day with both goals in the 2-1 win over Liverpool, claimed Mourinho’s pursuit of winning held back young talent at United.

“Mourinho wants to get results. If Rashford has one or two not good games, he puts him out,” said De Boer.
