‘Nerves’ could get to Tiger

JAMES ANDERSON is urging his England teammates to start making their voices heard after the Ashes flop.

The return of Ben Stokes will certainly add more noise and character to the side in New Zealand, despite not being given the vice-captaincy back with his trial for affray set for August.

But Anderson, who will continue to fill the role of No.2 to captain Joe Root, wants to encourage more from a team where the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Dawid Malan must play a big role in its development.

“I’m delighted Joe’s asked me SERGIO GARCIA has claimed his old rival Tiger Woods will have to conquer nerves on his return to the Masters next month. The US superstar is the favourite to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week, his final event before Augusta, after his tied-second finish at the Valspar Championship.

Four-time Masters winner Woods, 42, has not teed up in the first Major of the season since 2015.

And defending champion Garcia, who has a long history of antagonism with Woods, said: “We all know what kind of player he is and what kind of player he can be when he’s healthy. “Obviously, he’s had a couple of very solid weeks at Honda and in Tampa. “I’m sure he’s excited to come back to Augusta, and it’s a place where he’s done well, so I would expect him to do fairly well.

“But I don’t know how well because it’s been a while since he’s been there. He will probably be a little nervous, which is normal. “He’s got to deal with all those feelings again.”
