Candeias delight at Ibrox deal
RANGERS have extended the contract of fans’ favourite Daniel Candeias until 2020.
The Portuguese winger has earned a new deal on the back of a fine debut season in which he has scored six goals and chipped in with a leaguebest eight assists.
The 30-year-old follows the lead of team-mates Wes Foderingham, Alfredo Morelos, Declan John, James Tavernier and Josh Windass who have also recently penned new contracts.
Candeias signed for Rangers last summer in a £700,000 deal from Benfica and the far-travelled player, who has also played in Germany, Turkey, Spain and France, has represented Portugal at under-16 and under-23 level.
Rangers have also been boosted by the return to action of skipper Lee Wallace and midfielder Graham Dorrans, although it was a match to forget as they went down 3-0 to Brentford at Murray Park.
Candeias said: “The people want us to win trophies, and so do the players. This is the greatest club in the world and now I want to win trophies with Rangers too.”
“I love wearing the shirt and I will give 200 per cent for this club.
“I am very happy here as it is like a family. Everyone has welcomed me so well and I my family are so happy with the city and the people.
“When everything is like this, it makes it so much easier. I have more responsibility nowand want to continue the way I have.”
